So this song here is based on a request I have been asked so many times now, which is to make music honouring Slavic culture. I did Celtic, Nordic, Arabian, Chinese, Japanese… now I finally did this.^^ As with the other genres I do it’s important to mention that I don’t claim to make traditional music, I always mix my songs with Fantasy and Classical music. I know a lot have asked me to make Slavic folk music, and I actually have a fast-paced Slavic folk song that I’m working on right now, but this one I wanted to make about something else; this song (the title means “glory, my brother”) is the song about a dead warrior, to be more precise, a Bogatyr. Bogatyr are legendary warriors, akin to knights, of ancient Slavic folklore. Some of them really existed, others are inventions by storytellers, but they hold a great significance in Slavic tales and identity. I chose this topic because I was always fascinated by the melancholic strength in many Slavic Classical pieces and stories. Next one will be more folky though. xD There is a lot I want to try out with this musical culture. All music composed and arranged on keyboard, by myself as always. The artwork is an old painting by Viktor Vasnetsov. © All audio material is copyrighted by Adrian von Ziegler.
