LIVE: Demolition of former Trump Plaza casino in Atlantic City

The former Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City is set for demolition on Wednesday, February 17. The 39-floor defunct casino was built by former US president Donald Trump and forms a prominent part of Atlantic City’s skyline. It went bankrupt and closed its doors in 2014. Auctions were planned for the right to press the button to raze the symbolic building, with the proceeds set to raise money for a youth charity. However, Carl Ichan, the building’s owner and Trump ally blocked the idea citing safety concerns.
