Windowsill is an intricate cocktail of nostalgic references, abstract humour and jazz chords. It’s an ode to 18 years spent in the south, romanticising some memories while infusing Mcbess feeling of disdain for this part of the world. It’s all about contrast, stories of growing up in place made up of sun and boredom.
Recorded in London with Muff Meridol of Wayfarer Sound Studio, using some unconventional recording technics to achieve the sound that Mcbess was looking for. Mellotron, marimbas, 80’s synth, all this on top of a solid rhythm section. Matt Christensen and Gregory Talon play drums on the album, with a bit of voice acting from Bruno Bolla, guest singes Clement Bolla and Carl Addy bring some good vibes on two tracks, all other instruments played by Mcbess.
