KOKYU HO, also called SOKUMEN IRIMINAGE, is a fundamental throw in aikido, albeit not as fancy as some of the other throws. It holds the key to the essentials of aikido. Here it is applied against various grab and strike attacks. Kokyuho means breathing method or breathing exercise, which might stem from its circular up and down movement of the arms, comparable to the in and out of breathing.
