Run-up of large (1100kW, 500rpm) Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

This video shows direct on line (6kV) starting of large power (1100kW, 500rpm) permanent magnet synchronous motor (LSPMSM), manufactured by DAMEL S.A. The motor drives one of the main fan in the “Makoszowy” coal mine (located in Silesia, Poland). The start up takes about 20s due to large fan’s moment of inertia (about 20 times larger comparing to motor). The measured inrush current is 7x nominal current and causes 15% voltage drop. “Dobra” in the beginning of video means “ready” in this context.
