Revolution 1917 (Feature film)

=============================== Other name: “Hero“ (film, 2016) - The plot of the film: =============================== 1914. St. Petersburg province of the Russian Empire. The princely estate of the Chernyshevs. Young Princess Vera Chernysheva and Lieutenant of the Life Guards of the Cavalry Regiment Andrey Dolmatov get acquainted under very strange circumstances. Sympathy, love, there seems to be a long and happy life ahead… However, the course of history violates the lovers’ plans for a happy future together. The First World War begins. The world is turning upside down, it is gripped by hatred, anger, thirst for power. War separates the young. Dolmatov goes to the front, and Vera goes to the hospital, where she serves as a nurse. On March 2 (15), 1917, Tsar-Emperor Nicholas II signs the abdication of the throne. Upon learning about this tragic event, Prince Alexander Chernyshev, Vera’s father, with the words “It’s over. Russia is gone!“ is dying. One war is being replaced by another — a civil one. People are divided into two warring camps — “red“ and “white“, they begin to judge each other, to repair a brutal massacre. In March 1918, Captain Dolmatov forces Vera to leave a dangerous job in a military sanitary wagon train and, contrary to her wishes, puts her on a private train of a rich Russian industrialist Mikhail Tereshchenko, who is going to emigrate to Paris with her sister Irina and mother Olga Andreevna. At parting, Andrei Petrovich promises Vera Alexandrovna to find her in Paris after the war. The fire of time destroys everything in its path, but love is immortal, it connects several generations and reminds of itself after a whole century… 2016. Russian Russian designer Andrey Kulikov, a specialist in vintage cars, on the instructions of businessman Mikhail (Michel) is traveling from St. Petersburg to Paris to conduct an examination of the first ever Russian car brand “Russo-Balt“, put up for sale by a Russian Parisian, emigrant of the first wave, Princess Elizabeth Ivanovna Yezerskaya. During a meeting with her at the Paris cemetery of Saint-Genevieve-de-Bois, he notices a photograph of a beautiful girl on one of the tombstones. Later, already walking around Paris, Andrey meets the beautiful Vera, who reminds him very much of the girl’s face on the monument. It seems to him that once, a hundred years ago, he already loved this girl. At this second, events move into the past. Vera turns out to be the great-granddaughter of a woman who was loved by his great-grandfather, Andrei Petrovich Dolmatov, a “white“ officer who heroically died in March 1918 in battle during the First Kuban Campaign (the “Ice Campaign“ of General Kornilov), covering his fellow soldier Baron Ivan Karlovich von Lieven. A century later, tender feelings flare up between the great-grandchildren of Andrei Dolmatov and Vera Chernysheva. - Герой_(фильм,_2016) ================== Yuri Vasiliev, director: ================== “The idea of making the film was born in Paris, at a meeting with Russian emigrants, descendants of those princes and captains who were forced to leave Russia a hundred years ago. But their children and grandchildren still consider themselves Russian. We thought about how to do it. Russian grave workers visited the memorial cemetery of Saint-Genevieve-de-Bois, saw rows of graves of Russian officers buried on foreign soil. We returned to Moscow and together with the creative team began discussing options for the development of the project.  Studying the archives, we discovered the forgotten pages of Russian history. This is the Kuban campaign, the “Ice“ campaign – the battle that began the chronicle of the White Guard movement, a tragic, but at the same time a very beautiful episode of the Civil War. Soon we will celebrate the centenary of those events. And it seemed to us that it would be right to say today about that time, about that generation of people. To pay tribute to the heroes of Russia, officers and soldiers whose fates were affected by this war.  Of course, this story would be incomplete without a romantic line. The attitude of officers to a woman characterizes officers no less than honor, dignity, willingness to give their lives for the Motherland. That is why we tell the story of touching love against the background of tragic historical events, when it seems that only love can save from all troubles“
