At the Museum of the City of New York is a really dolls’ house special: the famous Stettheimer Dollhouse.
Carrie Walter Stettheimer (1869-1944) developed the Dollhouse over the course of 19 years (from 1916 to the death of her mother in 1935), creating many of the furnishings and decorations by hand. Using her sensibility into every detail, Carrie Walter Stettheimer wove together the fashion and style of New York’s high society in the early twentieth century to create one of the finest dollhouses in exist
