Safety Glass (1964)

Balsall Common, Warwickshire. Various shots show glass used for windscreens being tested for strength. In a wind tunnel; a model car stands in a rush of air while a male scientist watches. A female scientist makes notes as she watches windscreen wipers in operation on a sheet of glass. Outside, three women are seen bouncing up and down on a sheet of glass to test it’s strength. A man with a crossbow set up on the grass shoots a steel ball at a sheet of ordinary glass; it shatters and he replaces the glass with a sheet of toughened glass, which does not shatter when fired at. The glass is examined. Several more similar shots of this test. Note: the laboratory seen is Triplex. Cuts exist - see separate record. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
