Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says 7 October attacks were ‘understandable’

During an interview with DW News, which was aired on Friday, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the 7 October attacks by Palestinian fighters against Israel were “understandable”, although he underlined that he did not condone them. Ibrahim added that he feels the West is selective in their criticism by focusing only on what happened on 7 October and defended the Malaysian government’s choice to engage with the political wing of Hamas, saying that the West also maintain ties with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government.
