Path of Exile’s Colossal Open Beta

Finally, Path of Exile was opening up to the broader public. In PoE’s Open Beta, Grinding Gear Games unchained their upcoming dark fantasy action roleplaying game, allowing anyone who sought it out a chance to play and stress test the game. Between January 23, 2013 and October 23, 2013, hundreds of thousands of exiles washed up on the shores of Wraeclast to hammer the servers of PoE and experience numerous gameplay updates as the developers prepared for its wider release. The introduction of Act III, massive graphical improvements, actual challenge leagues, and much more all arrived during this busy era of Path of Exile—and this series is here to chronicle it all.
