Ey Vatan

This amazing Tasnif (Dashti) was composed by none other than Colonel Ali-Naqi Vaziri, the revolutionary musical genius of Iran during Reza Shah’s rise to power. Essential to the Shah’s program of cultural renaissance, Colonel Vaziri was at the center of a patriotic musical rebirth in Iran. He composed many pieces similar to this one, as performed by Pari Mah. Amid the cultural renaissance, the Shah was also restructuring Iran’s political framework, reminiscent of its past administrative supremacy. He gathered an intellectual powerbase of Iranian technocrats, loyal to the Imperial Court and their homeland. One such politician was Abdolhossein Teymourtash, who is the first non-monarch to share the spotlight on this channel. His adventurous life was one for the books, and I would highly suggest reading up on him.
