Lady With Lion Pet Aka Tame Lion - Cp 071 (1955)

Southport, Lancashire. L/S of a front door. Narrator states: “If you have a pet, don’t keep it indoors all day, take it out for a walk. No need to feel self-conscious because no-one ever stares.“ The door opens and a woman steps out with a large lion on a lead. The lion pulls her down the steps in front of her house. The lion’s owner is named but it is difficult to discern - Mrs Helen Farrar. The lion is called Rajah. Helen attempts to entertain the lion with a tennis racquet and some balloons - he doesn’t look impressed at all. Mrs Farrar and her husband own Southport Zoo. Low angle shot of Helen looking down on her cuddlesome pet then high angle shot of Rajah. She gives him the balloons to play with. He is more interested in biting Helen’s arms.
