Music of The First Nations People - British Columbia, Canada

First Nations are the original inhabitants of Northwest mountains of Canada and British Columbia region. They remained in the shadows for a century or so when the Europeans dominated the region. First Nations are now establishing their identity in public spaces, restoring their art forms and skills, documenting and scripting their languages and playing their music. At the Squamish and Lilawat Cultural Centre in Whistler, I heard our museum tour guide begin her tour by singing this song. She first explains and then sings the song. For me personally, on the Canada trip - First Nations was a discovery. It seems the universe conspired to acquaint me with them. I know this quest will not stop here.
