Porsche pursuit: reckless driver detained just two hours after car theft

We arrested a car thief following a dramatic pursuit in Birmingham city centre – and had the driver locked up just two hours after he’d stolen the Porsche 911.   Staffordshire Police alerted us to a car key burglary at around on 25 January this year in which a race-prepared Porsche 911 GTS was taken. As reckless driver Lee Smythe found to his cost, a rear wheel drive sports Porsche doesn’t handle too well in the January snow and ice! Our traffic cops used some “tactical contact“ to box him in and bring his dangerous driving to a swift end. He was dragged from the car and jailed for 16 months. Full story:
