都江堰

Dujiangyan is located in the northwest edge of the Chengdu Plain where the Minjiang River comes out of the mountain pass. It was built at the end of the reign of King Zhao of Qin, under the auspices of Li Bing and his son. It is a world-famous water conservancy project, which has been playing the role of flood control and irrigation for more than 2,000 years, and has made the Chengdu Plain the “Land of Heaven” with “water and drought from the people, and fertile fields of thousands of miles”. Dujiangyan is also a World Cultural Heritage Site, a World Natural Heritage Site, and a World Irrigation Heritage Site, and has many famous scenic spots, such as the Folongguan Temple, the Erwang Temple, and the Anlan Suoqiao Bridge. Its mountains, water, forests, weirs and bridges are all in one, with beautiful scenery and deep cultural heritage.
