CONTRA / (MSX2) LONGPLAY

Contra for the MSX2 PC is a port of the original game developed and released by Konami on May 26, 1989 only in Japan. Like another Contra port for Amstrad CPC, this versoin uses flip-screens mode instead of instead of the classic scrolling ’cause of hardware limits. The game provides an life bar which allows the player to take several hits before losing a ’re only two power-ups in this version : falcon power-up (increases walking and shooting speed) and gun power-up (allows to change current weapon). The Spread Gun is replaced by the Rear Gun (firing in two directions at the same time). The game has 19 levels (first 9 based on the arcade version, other goes exclusively for MSX2 version). The only reason why this version of the game can be considered difficult is the lack of continues.
