On June 26, 2021, Gervonta “Tank“ Davis moved up to super lightweight to take on Mario Barrios for the WBA (Regular) title at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Barrios started strong, using his height and reach to control the early rounds, but Davis’ power became the deciding factor. In the eighth round, Davis dropped Barrios twice and continued to apply pressure. By the eleventh round, another knockdown led to the referee stopping the fight, giving Davis a TKO victory and a title in his third weight class.
