Gliding Across America! (1931)

Full title reads: “Washington. Gliding Across America! Aviator Hawkes completes remarkable air feat.“ Washington DC, United States of America (USA). Flyer Captain Frank Hawkes stands by his glider. He chats to the man who will fly the plane to tow him to altitude. He climbs into his cockpit and the roof is put on top. He honks his horn and says bye-bye. Captain Hawkes glider is towed up into the air (The voiceover tells us that after this flight the plane will be handed over to the Smithsonian Institute). Various shots of the glider in flight. The glider comes into land right in front of the camera. It has an advert for Texaco painted on the side. N.B. I think this aviator’s name may be Frank Hawks rather than Hawkes.
