Eruption: Up And Away/Fire Is Gone [The Marek Mixes] (1978)

Eruption’s claim to fame will always be their two huge international hits with I Can’t Stand The Rain and One Way Ticket featuring Precious Wilson’s powerful lead vocals. When she left the group in 1979, they teamed up with British soul singer Kim Davis for their third album and enjoyed another German Top 10 hit in 1980 with Go Johnnie Go, but Davis got seriously injured in a car accident and passed away shortly after from a brain haemorrhage. Jayne Jochen stepped in and the group landed a fourth hit single with Runaway in 1981. By this time Hansa was starting to lose interest in the group, and after a compilation album in the spring and a belated release of the single You (originally planned for a July 1980 release), the group left Hansa and signed up with Ralph Siegel’s Jupiter Records. When their first single for the new label In A 1000 Years was released in December, Hansa quickly rushed out an old title from 1978 in January 1982 to compete.
