Hiking the North Fork of the Skokomish River to Big Log Campground in Olympic National Park

During this hike I decided that Olympic National Park is my favorite National Park in the state. It has so few people that visit its destinations compared to Mt Ranier National Park which requires a reservation now to enter. From this area to Lake Crescent, Lake Quinault, Hurricane Ridge, the Sol Duc Hot Springs, Ho River, and of course the Pacific Ocean beach areas all are fabulous and always breathtaking. The Staircase Campground is one of the best with almost half a dozen trails to do in the area. Today we did 6 miles in and then back for a grand total of 12 miles and around 1500 feet of elevation gain. I hope you enjoy the greenery and solitude, it refreshed my soul! This area of the park is located west of Hoodsport, Washington. The last 6 miles include 5 miles of washboard and potholed road. A National Park Pass or Northwest Forest Pass is required for entry/parking.
