To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of “The Dark Side Of The Moon” @pinkfloyd
This is my entry for the awesome competition. (youtube compression is harsh man)
Title: Eclipse - Video Animation for Competition
Artist: Andon Hristov
Description of my technical process
I have used hand drawn Rotoscoping and Straight Forward Frame by Frame Animation as well as some digital post effect work and some little AI techniques.
For the trippy looking prism at the start and end of the video i used an AI tool called Deforum Stable Diffusion to generate the frames for me based on a series of key framed 2d animation prompts which i tested and used for the look and feel.
For most of the shots after the trippy prism and the fully after effects chain screen effects at the start and the end of the video, i filmed myself , friends or got appropriate royalty free footage from the internet, and i have used that footage to do my Rotoscoping animation and straight forward Animation passes. All of the hand drawn and Roto Animation was done in Photo Shop.
I wanted to try and capture a sort of old school animation vibe, so i have animated and rendered everything on 12 frames per second, this gives that nostalgic choppy feel like animation from the 70s for example.
The Story
I could probably write a book based on the ideas behind this video, but better keep it short.
It’s as if a person is remembering their life, the good and the bad, and drawing conclusions.
Its all a memory and visions from the protagonist’s mind.
This is my idea for the tv screen, the prism full of colours and the black and white glitchy memories.
I really hope you like what i created, i put my body mind and soul in to each little detail of the piece. The time it took me to produce this result was as soon as i learned about the competition until now, so about 4 months of about 3 hours a day every other day or so.
Happy watching!
Andon
