The Grateful Dead, The CIA, and LSD

From the Axs Tv program Music’s Greatest Mysteries. Seeing this clip several months ago led me to these shows I missed in 2016. One line I found interesting was at 7:27 “By the mid 1960s the CIA’s LSD experiments have expanded from their secret MK Ultra program and moved into the counter culture of San Francisco under Ken Kesey’s Acid Tests.“ That is pretty much a blanket statement of implication. The whole piece is supposed to be “could this be possible?“ piece. Also I find what Matt Pinfield (and I haven’t seen him since the 90s on MTV by the way) said about the U.S. Military creating LSD to be way off base. How could he not know this? LSD was first synthesized in 1938 in Basel, Switzerland by Albert Hoffman. Here’s what the mighty wikipedia says:
