American Bandstand 1970 – Spotlight Dance- Daughter of Darkness, Tom Jones

Airdate: May 30, 1970 The Spotlight Dance tribute to Tom Jones features the follow-up song to “Without Love (There Is Nothing)“ which peaked at #5 earlier this year and was released in Dec. ’69. Today “Daughter of Darkness” is at #18 and will peak at #13 next week. Our Spotlight Dancers today include: Sheila Shelly, Michael Hueya, Anthony Martinelli and regulars Don Sanuskar & Pat Dickinson. Don Sanuskar had several regular dance partners over the 9 years (’65-’74) he was on the show including Robin Miller, Roni Menacker, Deedra Higgins, Robin Morris, and Karen Sudlow. As the 70’s began, he teamed up with another AB regular, Pat Dickinson, until he left the show in 1974. As there is a 4 year gap in saved episodes between’70-‘74, sadly, this is one of the few known episodes with Don and Pat dancing together. Don went on to become a school teacher and administrator in southern California, teaching grades 4-6, ESL, and Special Education as well as becoming an Assistant Principle. Today
