An eyewitness video showed extensive destruction on streets and homes in northwest China on Tuesday (December 19) after a magnitude-6.2 earthquake jolted the remote and mountainous region. Video obtained by Reuters showed streets in Jishishan county in Gansu provinice lined with rubble and crushed vehicles, as images taken inside homes showed widespread damage. At least 118 people were killed and hundreds injured, according to Chinese state media. Reuters was able to confirm the location of the video from the nearby building which matched the satellite image and collaborating video. At 11:59 p.m. local time (1559 GMT) on Monday (December 18), the quake struck Jishishan county at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), according to China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
