World Championships 1990 2- Mens Final (BBC coverage)

World Rowing Championships 1990 mens coxless pairs final on Lake Barrington, Tasmania, Australia Lane 1 France Lane 2 Yugoslavia Lane 3 East Germany Lane 4 Great Britain Lane 5 Roumania Lane 6 Soviet Union The East German pair Jung and Kellner were the 1989 world champions. This was Pinsent and Redgraves first race. Steve Redgrave had come 2nd the previous year rowing with Simon Berrisford, but Berrisford had back problems. So Redgrave was given a new partner, the very young but already a world bronze medallist in the 4 , Matthew Pinsent . The Soviet union pair, the Pimenov twins, had a long history of success but had come 4th in the 1989 world championships. Its interesting to compare their race plan in this race with their 1988 and 1985 world champs finals. Very different and at 1650m in this race looks like its about to pay off All the mens 1989 and 1985 world champ races are also on this channel MostynARC Recorded from BBC coverage (on VHS)
