Putin ’unleashes surveillance’ on mothers of soldiers opposing the war

MOTHERS and wives of Russian soldiers sent to fight the war in Ukraine have been speaking out against the conflict and appealed to Putin to get their loved ones back home to safety. Council of Mothers and Wives is highlighting the appalling conditions under which conscripted Russian men are fighting, with little training, poor uniforms, useless weapons and absent commanders. One woman claims that Putin is having her followed because of the criticism she voiced against the war, in an attempt to gag her. A new law is reportedly supposed to come into effect this week. This law aimed at curbing criticisms would see the rounding up and arrest of distraught women opposing Putin’s war because their sons and husbands have been killed in Ukraine.
