A earthquake struck Guatemala early Wednesday morning, causing minor damage and several landslides on roads. No injuries or deaths have been reported. The US Geological Survey reported that the aftershock had its epicenter in Nueva Concepcion, a municipality in the department of Escuintla in south-central Guatemala, and registered a depth of 83.6 km. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator, the earthquake was felt in southern Mexico, in 18 of the 22 departments of Guatemala and even in El Salvador. The institution reported that 15 incidents were recorded, including landslides and cracks in structures. Various other locations around the world also felt tremors from the earthquake, with Jose R. Ribeiro providing information and noting: “Less than an hour ago, the M6.2 earthquake in Guatemala was also felt in Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras. . It can do some damage, even though it’s not minor.“
