Sticks | A George Saunders Story | Powerful Short Short Story | Audio Story

A strange, domineering, mean and unpleasant man sticks up poles in his to yard that serve as his sole medium of communication to his immediate family as well as to society. The man is not likeable. His alienation from his children, bitterness and loneliness make up the principal theme of George Saunders short story, ’Sticks’. First published in 2013 as part of a collection of short stories titled ’Tenth of December’, this is about a man whose idiosyncratic and bizzare behaviour causes him incessant suffering, pain and leaves him in torment while also affecting the personalities and lives of his children. Though he longs to communicate, something inhibits him. It is a powerful, melancholy and dark story to reflect on. The very sticks that had such significance for the father, no longer serve any purpose after his death. They are tossed away into the garbage by the new occupants of the house. Life moves on as usual. Follow @theelocutionist1725 Facebook- Instagram- Please Subscribe to our channel and share it with your friends and family.
