Nature is merciless! Devastating hurricane demolishes houses in Buenos Aires, Argentina Natural disaster 17 December 2023. Storms with heavy rain and wind hit the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, collapsing the roofs of a sports club in Bahia Blanca. Winds of more than 140 kilometres per hour were recorded in the city, parts of which lost power. The National Weather Service warned residents of Buenos Aires that the capital was under an orange alert, its second-highest level, due to the storm. There were reports of power outages throughout the city. The President posted a message on social media expressing his condolences to the families of the victims. Heavy rain and winds swept across the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, causing flooding, damage, fallen trees and even interrupted electricity supply. Fallen trees that hit parked cars and houses could be seen across Buenos Aires after gusts reached heights of 100 kilometres per hour. As a result of the storm, several flights were cancelled at two main air terminals. Planes scheduled to take off or land at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery airport in Buenos Aires were either cancelled, diverted or delayed. Naturals hazards in 2022 have become more frequent.
