| 05 The Great Gig In The Sky | 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd: The Dark Side Of The Moon |

This video was made for THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON 50TH ANNIVERSARY ANIMATED MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION #TDSOTM50 #tdsotm #pinkfloyd Each video in this series presents a song from ’The Dark Side of the Moon,’ blending traditional and modern techniques. The approach combines 3D animation and compositing with AI-generated imagery. All visuals are ultimately processed with AI to resemble hand-drawn, 12 fps frame-by-frame animation, echoing the psychedelic styles characteristic of the 1960s and 70s. This in order to capture the album’s essence in a digital format, reflecting both the album’s legacy and contemporary technology. “The Great Gig In The Sky“ has two main sections - the quiet intro was done by creating line art drawings in Midjourney AI and Photoshop, which were brought to life in After Effects, to mimic hadn-drawn unconsistency. The old man character uses assets from Mixamo (both basew model and motion capture) which were further modified in Lightwave 3D and Unreal Engine, then processed with custom ComfyUI workflow for hand-drawn look. In order to lip-sync animate the “roadie“ character seen in the painting, I first used manual and AI techniques to isolate the talked lines from the song, then used an AI tool in NVIDIA Omniverse to automatically animate a 3D face animation based on the processed audio. This was combined with AI -created psychedelic face drawing created in Midjourney (hair and beard) and Stable Diffusion (facial features), with the facial motions tracked and transferred in 2D from the rendered 3D face to the 2D drawing using After Effects.
