As a writer, his lyrics have left a mark in the Middle East region, notably during the Arab Spring, where they were displayed in places like the Yarmouk camp in Syria. Alongside Peter Corser on the saxophone and Karsten Hochapfel on the cello, he is sure to grip audiences as the complete band. Their self-titled debut, released in January, serves as a sample of what can be achieved on the stage. Le Cri du Caire won the ‘Album de Musiques du Monde’ award at the Victoires du Jazz for their debut album. “The virtuoso Sufi chant, whispered or shouted over a carpet of hypnotic loops, leads the listener into a trance-like mystical journey.
