This is a rundown of every hit song present on the MuchMusic Countdown in 2001. Let’s bring some Canadiana to nostalgia playlists! These have been my pet projects for a while because I’m a bit obsessed with old-school MuchMusic/can-con in general. 2001 doesn’t have quite as many memorable moments as the past couple of years, but it’s where the seeds for the rest of the decade were sown: rock starts veering off into the directions it would take for the rest of the 2000s - pop punk, indie, alt metal and, well, Nickelback. The teen popstars like Britney and Christina start getting naughty while the boy bands wind down. Canadian hip hop continues to find its voice, and R&B burns up the charts.
