US vetoes UN ceasefire resolution for third time in Israel-Gaza war

The United States has vetoed a United Nations resolution for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. It had already indicated its intention to veto the resolution. This is the third US veto of a security council resolution calling for a ceasefire. The US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield says the Algeria-proposed resolution would negatively impact regional negotiations. On Monday the US proposed for its own Security Council to draft a resolution for a “temporary ceasefire“.
