The Super Balancer! (1933)

(Main Pathetone titles.) Titles read: “THE SUPER BALANCER! DESCRIBED BY WILL COLLINSON“. Visuals cut out for 17 seconds; on the soundtrack we hear Will Collinson introducing Jim Sainsbury of Covent Garden, Champion Basket Balancer of the World. When visuals return (01:12:07) we see Jim walking from Covent Garden Market to the Porters’ Club, carrying 16 baskets on his head in the Blimey Stakes - so called because of the number of ’blimeys’ dropped during the progress of this race. Speeded up footage of Jim walking, surrounded by a small crowd of people, on his way to the club. He also carries two baskets in his hands. Outside the club, Jim performs his famous act of drinking a pint of beer while balancing another pint on top of his head. Will Collinson says “Blimey, what a throttle!“.
