Road Test: Mercury Sable (1986)

The Ford Taurus made its debut in the 1986 model year, and its modern technology and curvy lines made it a tremendous smash hit for Ford. The Mercurized version of the Taurus, known as the Sable, didn’t sell quite as well, but its emphasis on affordable luxury features and science-centric futurism was designed to appeal to Mercury’s quasi-affluent buyers.
