Israel’s military is escalating its campaign against Hezbollah by targeting the group’s financial arm, al-Qard al-Hassan, launching a series of airstrikes on Beirut and other areas across Lebanon. Explosions rocked Beirut’s southern suburbs just an hour after the announcement, with evacuation warnings issued in southern Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and parts of southern Lebanon.
The strikes aim at Hezbollah’s financial network, which funds operatives and buys arms. Al-Qard al-Hassan, sanctioned by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, is a financial institution that serves both Hezbollah and ordinary Lebanese citizens. A senior Israeli intelligence official confirmed the strikes, stating, “We will attack a large number of targets all over Lebanon.”
