Beautiful Joan Baez Imitates Her Ex-Boyfriend Bob Dylan Singing It Ain’t Me Babe

This clip is a classic from my 90 minute television special on Earl Scruggs the great banjo picker. During this time in 1971, Earl and his sons, Gary Scruggs and Randy Scruggs, were traveling the USA connecting with great musicians who agreed to combine with his style of bluegrass banjo picking. 16-year-old son Randy had already become a master flat-picking guitarist an is amazing to watch in this and other scenes from the film. I was making a documentary on Earl during this time and very lucky to see him play with with musicians like Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Bill Monroe, Doc Watson, and Joan Baez. This clip was recorded at Joan’s home in Portola Valley California. Remember that she had once been the girlfriend of Bob Dylan and first recorded his song “It Ain’t Me Babe“ in 1964.
