Tin Soldiers Of Today (1932)

Introductory intertitle reads: “In Sweden, exhaustive experiments on metal dummies are made to calculate exactly the heat retaining properties of army clothing.“ Two men walk up to two very strange looking metal dummies. One of the men wears an army hat. “The ’head’ contains mechanism which keeps level the body temperature of the dummy - “ C/U of the men looking at the head - it looks like some kind of futuristic robot or alien. They lift the metal cover off to reveal the mechanism inside. “The more heat the clothing retains, the less electrical current is needed. Thus they can tell exactly the best “warming“ material. C/U of the mechanism, one of the men looks closely at it and points out various parts. L/S of the two dummies. By means of a camera trick clothes suddenly appear on the dummies (superimpositions). More clothes then pile up on top as if by magic. Men appear and do up the jacket buttons on the dummies. Various shots of the clothed dummies - bizarre! FILM ID: A VIDEO
