Learn in this video how to use the BMW Digital Key. Once you have successfully activated your Digital Main Key or have accepted a shared Digital Key, you can use your compatible iPhone to securely lock, unlock and even start your BMW. To unlock your BMW with the Digital Key, hold the upper back of your iPhone near the driver’s door handle. You do not need to unlock your device or open the My BMW app. With the default Express mode turned on, if your iPhone happens to go into power reserve mode and needs to be charged, you can still use your BMW Digital Key for up to five hours. To start the engine of your BMW, simply place your iPhone in the smartphone tray of your vehicle and press the start/stop button. BMW Digital Key is available on selected BMWs produced after Summer 2020 with the optional equipment Comfort Access (SA322).
