Hi guys my name is Jason Leung, I am a 4th Dan in Shotokan Karate, with over 20 years of experience. In today’s Karate Lesson we are learning Kata Enpi (Shotokan). Enpi (燕飛), also frequently transliterated as Empi, is a kata practiced by Shotokan and other karate styles. Enpi means Flying Swallow - Because of this dynamic form of combat, this kata resembles a swallow in flight.
Kata Enpi has always been performed at high levels of competition and to this day is one of my signature Kata. It has a high level of difficulty, requiring speed, precision, and great balance.
I hope you enjoy this video!
