Actor Jameson Thomas, carrying a briefcase, walks onto set dressed to look like a living room. He puts the case on a table and takes out two cactus plants in pots. He looks up at the camera and says “Oh, hello. How do you like my pets?“. He goes on to explain that “these are the latest things in home comforts“ - lots of people are using cacti instead of cut flowers because they go so well with modern furniture and decorations.
He shows us some cacti from the table. A big hairy one is called ’The Statue of Liberty’. It over 50 years old and used to be about 3 feet high but a greenhouse fell on it, causing it to grow outwards. A small, prickly specimen reminds Jameson of the drawings he used to do of his schoolmaster; he puts it down on a chair. He then shows us cacti in miniature landscapes.
Jameson nearly sits on the prickly cactus that he had put down on a chair. He stops himself just in time and picks up the cactus, saying “This one to
