Russian Orthodox believers plunge into the freezing waters in Shchyolkovo near Moscow to celebrate Epiphany on Monday, January 18, as the temperature drops to -19 °C. Participants in the ritual dip themselves in freezing water three times to honour the Holy Trinity and symbolically wash away their sins.
