The Buffer Belt - A Paris Novelty (1925)

Intertitle reads: “Every day in every way Continental dances get closer and closer, so the Paris Eves have just started “Buffer States“ of their own“. A woman ties a strange looking contraption around her waist. It has sticky-out prongs and it tied at the back by a ribbon. A C/U of the belt reveals the prongs to have flat pieces on ends. We then see the woman dancing with a man. The prongs prevents the man from getting too close! They laugh and dance. This is presumably a device used in ballroom dancing teaching to demonstrate the correct hold - looks like it is more of a chastity device today though! Note: “Buffer States“ is a World War One reference. Cute and quirky little item. Safety print exists. Was probably an Eve’s Film Review item - issue number unknown.
