Sir William Walton - “Touch Her Soft Lips and Part“ - from Henry V Suite

Another English string miniature: short, but sweet - even profound. It reminds me very much of “El Noi de la mare“, by an anonymous Renaissance composer. Classical guitarist John Williams performed it for his album: “Spanish Guitar Favourites“. I took these pictures in various places in the Peak District National Park, England. The chapel like building at start is a 19th century building and was originally a pump house. A large water-cooled engine pumped compressed air through cast iron pipes to drive the rock drills in the quarries that developed along the Cromford and High Peak Railway line, now the High Peak Trail. Nearby is also the ancient Roystone Grange farmstead site. The Victorians cared about the appearance even of buildings whose sole purpose was utility. Recording details: uncertain (old mp3 file).
