Pierre Monteux Conducts The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Filmed in 1961 with the London Symphony Orchestra. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (L’apprenti sorcier) was published by French composer Paul Dukas in 1897. It was inspired by a 1797 poem by Goethe called “Scherzo.“ The piece gained a new level of popularity after it was featured in Disney’s 1940 animated film Fantasia.
