Schumann: “First Loss“ - Op. 68, No. 16 (Tariq Harb, guitar)

Guitarist Tariq Harb performs “Erster Verlust“ or “First Loss“ from Robert Schumann’s Album for the Young, Op. 68. This is arranged for guitar by Martin Hegel. While he also composed numerous larger works, Robert Schumann (1810-1856) is chiefly known for his mastery of the miniature: in little character pieces, in particular, he created wonderfully poetic music sometimes concentrated in just a few bars. Beyond the virtuoso displays of the early 19th Century, Schumann’s genius found expression in richly Romantic harmonies, expressive melodies and skilful polyphony.
