My Lord Byron’s Maggot

This is the third of five dances from our “Maggot Party“ - My Lord Byron’s Maggot from Thompson’s Compleat Collection, 1701. The dance starts by the man beckoning a lady, who advances towards him, and in turn she beckons the man as she retreats and the man advances towards her. This can be quite flirtateous and you will hear us laughing. From the dates, the title does not refer to Lord Byron the poet but probablyto his great-grandfather.
