The Wall Street Journal reported that Washington’s decision is aimed to prevent the escalation of war with Moscow. US officials also said that the modified HIMARS rocket launchers couldn’t fire long-range missiles, including the ATACMS. The Pentagon declined to comment on the modifications, which US officials said involves their hardware and software.
