GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Ducks () | Evgeni Malkin’s Triumphant Return

Prior to the Penguins’ tilt with the Ducks, the team announced some very welcome news: Evgeni Malkin would be making his season debut following offseason knee surgery. Per Penguins PR, upon Malkin’s debut, the season marks the 16th season that Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang have played together - the most by a trio in NHL history. Jeff Carter got the scoring started just 65 seconds in, putting Pittsburgh up 1-0. Then, Evgeni Malkin blasted the puck into the twine on the power play for his first tally of the season. Silfverberg responded for the Ducks, but Evgeni Malkin would restore the two-goal lead for Pittsburgh just over 6 minutes later. Driving to the net, Malkin forced his stick to the ice through a defender and deflected the puck behind Anaheim’s netminder to make it 3-1 in favor of the black and gold.
