Heretek - Warhammer 40k Iron Warriors Song

*Heretek* by *Lorcan Ward* A Warhammer 40k Iron Warriors inspired metal song available to stream/download here: *More Warhammer Songs:* *Let’s set the stage on this one so the lyrics have more context:* Short Version - Iron Warriors raid a forge world using Mortal Engines sized traction cities fused with Demon engines and DAOT weaponry. They’re angry and see the Mechanicus as insects beneath them. The POV is from the Warsmith as he marches up and down the control deck delivering messages into the Noosphere. Long Version - Cadia has fallen and the galaxy is split in two leaving Imperium Nihilus wide open to attack. The Iron Warriors have set their site on a Mechanicus Forge World. A long coveted world with an extensive STC database. They have annihilated the fleets and orbital defences to make way for a full ground invasion. Here is where the song starts. *Intro* Imagine the sky full of drop pods, thunderhawks and orbital lifters heading for the surface, sirens are being razed across the planet. I’ve always loved the scene in the film “Crossroads“ about mimicking the sound of a train so that’s where the idea for the main riff came from. Only instead of a train imagine the traction cities from Mortal Engines(If you’ve read Forges of Mars you will have come across this already in 40K). This is where the POV of our song is from an Iron Warriors Warsmith. This is a very angry song and I really tried to get that to come across in the lyrics, how they look down on the Adeptus Mechanicus as insects who don’t even understand their technology. I could write pages about the lyrics in this song but I’ll try to keep it short. *Verse 1* is our Warsmith breaking into the noosphere to deliver a message planet wide. This is a warrior who fought in the Great Crusade and countless conflicts since. The song title “Heretek“ is an insult against him, as is the line “Fallen One“ but he disagrees to say the least. The “Nothing for the crows“ line was inspired by GOT “A feast for crows“ but is also an insult against the loyalist Marines who will come to late to help. *Chorus* Forged = Past, Eyes = Present, Sight = Future. I wanted to create my own litany instead of using the existing one. *Verse 2* Now that our setting, legion and character is established Verse 2 is where I get to have more fun and creativity. In this verse the Titan Legions have come out to greet the invaders. Our warsmith looks in them with utter contempt, ready to show them the power of chaos. *Interlude* The Titan legions are within range, our traction cities power up their weapons and unleash an apocalyptic volley at them. With the legio a smouldering wreckage the Iron Warriors move on to break the city walls. *Verse 3* They’ve taken the city. Our Warsmith couldn’t hold in his anger and has to deliver another speech. In my songs I often hide homophones, “Mettle“ is a good example of this that I couldn’t help but throw in. So that should ad a lot context to the song. For me this is what Warhammer is all about. Home-brew chapters and characters in various scenarios. It’s what has built the setting up over the years. Musically this song is inspired by Slipknot, Rammstein, Fear Factory and Mick Gordon. It leans into Nu-Metal so you can hear some Static-X and Korn influence in places too. I had so much fun writing the lyrics for this song and Tom delivered an incredible vocal performance. *Stream/Download/Support:* 💪 Patreon 🤘 PayPal donations - cent helps me to continue making music and is greatly appreciated¤cy_code=EUR 🎵 Bandcamp - 🎵 Spotify - 🎵 Apple Music - *Credits:* Vocals - Tom Emmans Guitar - Lorcan Ward Bass - Rich Gray Synth - Matsmusic Drums - Robin Stone Re-amped, mixed & mastered at Trackmix Studios Artwork by Joazzz - #warhammer40k #warhammer #metal
